Engagi Lodge in Bwindi National Park – Safari Lodge

Engagi Lodge is one of the Mid-range safari lodge in Bwindi built in a breathtaking setting while offering rewardable view over the forest canopy. It’s a modern safari accommodation facility.

The lodge is located in a large tract of land contiguous to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park and runs from the main roads to the park headquarters down to the Munyaga river.

Engagi lodge was built using local materials and a local workforce. Furthermore, it was constructed from rock that sits in and around the site and eucalyptus trees while the rooms are thatched from banana fibre thatched from local farmers.

The lodge has its main building divided into a bar cum sitting room, the dining room and a large outdoor verandah with overlooking platform.

Engagi lodge building is big enough to accommodate larger groups but still allows for the smaller individual’s groups to spread out in the different areas for privacy.

The lodge is wide open ended at the front thus allowing a dramatic spectacular view of the Bwindi forest from every corner of the building.

Engagi lodge has a nice kitchen that ensure privacy, through preparing a various course meals and clients requirements for example ‘’Vegetarians’’. They have a well-trained chef.

However, Engagi lodge comprises of just 8 en-suite cottages, space out and hidden in the foliage. Each cottage has either comfortable double or twin beds, a bathroom with flushing toilets, hot and cold running water. All have private verandahs with rewarding sight viewing of the nature where guest can enjoy their morning aroma tea or coffee as they watch out over the forest canopy.

The lodge has electricity power which runs or provided by solar power with a back –up generator. Hot waters at the lodge is supplied by eco-friendly wood burning boilers.

The lodge’s main reception area has been built up close the Buhoma road with enough space for car parking and both have a good distance away from the main lodge building areas.

The lodge is built along a road overlooking the rainforest with great views of rainforest atmosphere which is close to the main gorilla tracking areas only 10 minutes by car. They also have excellent services by the room attendants with a nice restaurant and a fire place good for gathering in the evening time with other guests discussing about the activity you had in the day. They serve nice food which is prepared with professional chefs.

The lodge has a perfect place to rest after an energetic day spend with the Bwindi forest gorillas. Have helpful and welcoming staff and the cabin are comfortable.

More about Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park a home to the rare mountain gorillas among the three countries where mountain gorilla tracking can be carried out from ‘’Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The park has become Uganda’s and among other gorilla trekking destinations, the main visited tourist destination because it hosts the world’s gorilla population our closest related cousins whom we share 98% of DNA. Tracking mountain gorillas on Uganda’s safari destination has really impacted a lot on the countries’ tourism hub as well as the economy. All you need to do is to book your permits in advance because no one is allowed to trek these beautiful creatures without a valid permit which costs USD700 per person per day. The park is located in the southwestern region of Uganda, estimating about 9 to 10 hours’ drive and it can be accessed both by air and car. By air transport you can use a domestic flight from Entebbe or Kajjansi airstrip to lands you to Kihihi airstrip within an hour and be picked up by the safari driver guide to drive you to the park.
