Akagera National Park lies in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania and is Rwanda’s only savannah park. It is home to plenty of mammals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, Kobs, zebras, Bushbucks, and waterbucks from South Africa, making Akagera National Park a home to big5 mammals. The park is also home to numerous bird species in several habitats, which include swamps, lakes, woodlands, and savannahs.
Detailed Itinerary
1 Day: Transfer to Akagera National Park ‘’2hrs drive’’
You will be picked up early morning from your hotel at around 5 am for a day trip to Akagera National Park. The park is primarily a savannah park. The game drive towards the northern part of the park will give you opportunities to view Elephants, zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Impalas, Waterbucks, rhinos, the elusive leopards, and recently lions were introduced.
On arriving at the park, have a short briefing about the park. You will spend your day in the northern sector of the park, which hosts many wildlife because of the landscape and vegetation. Akagera game drive can last about 6 hours, depending on the animal sightings and interest.
You will be advised to carry a packed lunch which you will enjoy it in the park. Then proceed with your game drive and extra via the northern gate later that evening. End of the tour.
