7 Days Mgahinga Gorillas – Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo safari
The 7 days Mgahinga gorillas – Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo safari is an exciting adventure that will take you to Mgahinga gorilla national park in southwestern Uganda where you will be able to engage in an adventurous gorilla and golden monkey trekking experience.
The safari will also take you to Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest Lake in Uganda and Lake Mburo national park where you will be able to spot different animals like buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, impalas, elands, topi, oribi, giraffes, zebras among others during the game drive and walking safari.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe
Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and later transfer to the hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park
On the second day of the safari, you will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Mgahinga gorilla national park. On the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe where you will buy souvenirs and take photos. Later proceed with another stopover for en-route lunch and upon arrival in Mgahinga gorilla national park, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience in Mgahinga national park
After an early breakfast on the third day of your safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge with your lunch box to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be subdivided into groups of 8 people and start trekking in the jungle in search of the habituated mountain gorillas with an experienced park guide and park rangers.
Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night and during trekking, you will be able to view different bird species, primates, tree species among others.
Once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them which helps you to watch them feed, play, rest, groom young ones, learn more about their behaviors, take photos and record videos to show people back home after the safari. After the one hour with the gorillas, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking
You will have an early breakfast from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of golden monkey trekking. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the golden monkeys which takes about 2 to 5 hours depending on where the golden monkeys are located because they like to move from one place to another.
During trekking you will be able to view other primate species and once the golden monkeys are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them, learn about their habits, watch them feed, play, rest, jump up in trees, take photos and record videos. After golden monkey trekking, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi-boat ride
On the fifth day of the safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale District. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for relaxation and lunch where after you will go for an amazing boat ride where you will explore the islands, spot different bird species, enjoy the beautiful scenic views, terraced farmlands, Kigezi hills among others.
Later return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park-walking safari
After breakfast on the sixth day of the safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Mburo national park in Mbarara.
Upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for lunch where after you will go for an interesting guided nature walk in the park where you will be able to get up-close and personal with different animals, listen to sweet sounds of bird species singing in trees, spot beautiful butterflies, enjoy the quiet environment among others.
After the walking safari, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala/Entebbe
On the last day of the safari, you will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the park where you will be able to spot animals like buffaloes, impalas, elands, oribi, warthogs, hippos, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, giraffes, topi, zebras, reedbucks, bushpigs among others.
After the game drive, you will drive out of the park and start the journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
