This 3 Days Nyungwe Chimpanzee and Canopy Walk Safari leads you to the home of over 30 primates species, more than 300 bird species, and above all to one of the oldest national parks in the central region of Rwanda with a high altitude. The park lies in the southwestern part of Albertine Rift thus making Nyungwe the best ornithologist’s site as many others.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park – Canopy Walk
On day 1 of the 3 Days Nyungwe Chimpanzee and Canopy Walk Safari, at your agreed location in Kigali city, you will be picked up by your professional company driver guide at your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will watch various number of remarkable attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads and so on. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the King’s Palace in Nyanza with lunch en- route. After lunch, you will head on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the beautiful rainforest with a bird’s eye view, wand atch wildlife moving about below you there after connecting to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will head to Nyungwe Forest National Park headquarters where you will make your way to either Cyamudongo Forest or Nyungwe Forest where you will be able to meet up with the habituated chimpanzee troops. The activity takes about 3 hours which will give you a high chance to watch a number of rewarding features of the chimpanzees in the wild like; they will be seen chattering and laughing, and you will get to watch the females’ red bottoms during ovulation which is a sign that they are ready to mate with the males many more interesting features. After the rewarding experience, you will then drive back to your hotel to freshen up, have lunch then spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at your hotel. Optional activity, participate in the community tour to help you understand more about the culture of the people of Rwanda by visiting their amazing cultural group where you will be entertained by their traditional dances, you will watch how they prepare their local dishes among others. Day 3: Transfer to Kigali
Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel in Kigali City or drop you off at a location of your choice in Kigali City or Kigali International Airport. You will have your early morning breakfast at your hotel, check out of your hotel, and then reconnect with your guide who will drive you back to Kigali city with a stopover for lunch en- route.
