The 7 days Uganda safari from Kigali is an exciting safari that starts from Kigali Rwanda and ends in Entebbe – Uganda. The Uganda safari will take you to some of the most popular national parks in Uganda, including Bwindi impenetrable national park, Kibale forest national park and Queen Elizabeth national park.

During the safari, you will get an opportunity to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural environment. You will also be able to spot animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards, warthogs, and waterbucks, among others, during the game drives and boat cruise on Kazinga channel.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Depending on your location on the first day of the safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris, who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way, you will have lunch and enjoy stunning views of the hills, plantations, and farmlands, among others.

Upon arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience

After an early breakfast on the second day of the safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge with your lunch box to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing.  After the briefing, you will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and an experienced park guide and park rangers.

Trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park takes about 2–7 hours, depending on where they slept the previous night. During trekking, you will be able to view other wildlife species and once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat, which gives you a chance to watch them carry out their daily activities, learn more about their behaviors, take photos, and record videos.

After the encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will return to the starting point, where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking. Later, you will meet up with your driver guide to drive back to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

On the third day of the safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park. On the way, you will have a stopover in the Ishasha sector, where you will be able to spot the tree-climbing lions lying in fig tree branches.

Later have an en route lunch and then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park and upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel

You will have an early breakfast at the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the park, where you will be able to view different animals like lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, and warthogs, and spot different bird species, among others.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will enjoy an interesting boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

During the boat cruise, you will be able to view large herds of hippos in the water, Nile crocodiles basking on the shores, spot aquatic bird species, and see fishermen preparing their fishing gear for night fishing, among others. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale forest national park

After breakfast on the fifth day of the safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for another morning game drive in the park, where you will be able to view some of the animals that you might have missed during the previous game drive.

After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will check out to transfer to Kibale National Park. The journey takes about a 2- to 3-hour drive with views of the crater lakes and tea plantations, among others.

Upon arrival, you will connect to the lodge for an evening of relaxation and dinner.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

On the sixth day of the safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu Visitors Center for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees with an experienced park guide.

Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park takes about 2 to 5 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

During trekking, you will be able to view different bird species and other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, blue monkeys, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them, which gives you a chance to learn about their behaviors and habits and watch them feed, play, hunt, rest, breastfeed, take photos and record videos.

After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will go for an amazing guided nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will look out for different bird species, primates, and visit the neighboring communities and craft shops, among others. Later, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe

On the last day of the safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kampala.

During the journey, you will enjoy lunch en route, and upon arrival, your driver guide will either drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or at any other location you specify.
