Detailed itinerary for the safari
Day 1: transfer to akagera national park
On the first day of your safari, you wake up early in the morning for early morning breakfast and embark on your journey to akagera national park from your hotel in Kigali city or picked up from the airport. A journey to the park is a 3 hours’ drive including stopovers for lunch and traffic delays, you are to reach in the park in the afternoon. Upon your arrival in the park you will go a boat trip on Lake Ihema, while on a boat trip you get to spot water animals like hippopotamuses, crocodiles and numerous animals which come to the lake to drink water.

Day 2: game drive and community cultural walks
On the second day of the safari you wake up early for early morning breakfast and then drive to the park headquarters to start a game drive, on a game drive you get to view many animal species as they graze in the park animals like buffaloes, topi, zebras, giraffes, impalas and many more. A game drive is led by a professional guide and it lasts about 2-3 hours, after the game drive you relax and have lunch and in the evening you embark on community walks. While on community cultural walks you visit local community of the locals who live around the park and in the community you get to witness many local practices like traditional way of making yogurt, ghee, traditional cattle grazing and many practices. After community cultural walk you go back to the lodge have dinner and sleep over night.
Day 3: transfer back to Kigali
On the third and last day of the safari you wake up a little late than the usual for breakfast and after breakfast you check out of the lodge and drive to kigali town. If you still have time you can go for a city tour wear you get to visit genocide memorial sites, your drop over will be either in kigali town or at kigali international airport.
