Our 2 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari is a stunning short safari tour package that leads you to Rwanda’s home of endangered chimpanzee individuals and other species to see.
Nyungwe National Park stands as the oldest conserved tropical rainforest in Africa and is home rich biodiversity of wildlife including; a small population of chimpanzees as well as 12 other species of primates like L’Hoest’s monkey endemic to the Albertine Rift. This trip starts and ends in Kigali- Rwanda.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Depending on the point of location in Kigali, you will be picked up by your guide at your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park home to various rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, and the homesteads among others. On this day, you will be able to visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the King’s Palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. After lunch, proceed to the park. Arrive and go for a remarkable canopy walk on a swing bridge that measures 50 meters in length and is suspended from large trees. While on this incredible experience, expect to enjoy a bird’s eye view, view wildlife moving as well as take memorable photographs. You will then connect to your booked accommodation. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking – Nyungwe Forest
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will head to Nyungwe Park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee rules. After briefing, you will be escorted by the skilled ranges into the forest trails in search of chimpanzee individuals and the trekking experience can take about 2 to 5 hours depending on their location in the forest.
On finding them, you will be allowed an hour to observe them as they groom themselves, laugh, feed, behave as well, and enjoy photo shoots. After this amazing experience, trek back to the meeting center to meet up with a driver-guide to drive you out of the park. Proceed to drive back to Kigali to be dropped off at your advisable location.
