2 Days Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking Safari : The 2 Days Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking safari takes you to the home rich in biodiversity and spectacularly beautiful. Ngungwe National Park is home to primates such as chimpanzees’ individuals and other 11 species of primates, including the L’Hoest’s monkey endemic to the Albertine Rift and a beautiful place among the few destinations to enjoy canopy walkway. The park stuns with splendid activities such as Chimpanzee trekking experience and Canopy walk tour, which attracts number of tourists to visit Nyungwe Forest National Park. The trip starts and ends in Kigali.
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
At your agreed location in Kigali city, you will be picked by your guide at your hotel in
Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe forest National Park watching a number of
rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads and so on. You will
have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the
king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch enroute. After lunch, you head After lunch, you will go
on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk-a swing bridge 50 meters in
length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest
with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you there after connect to
your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at
Gisakura visitor Centre
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will head to Nyungwe park
headquarters where you will make your way to either cyamudongo forest or Nyungwe
forest where you will access the habituated chimpanzee troops. The activity takes about
3 hours which will give you the opportunity to watch a number of rewarding features of
the chimpanzees in the wild like; they will be seen chattering, laughing, you will get to
observe the females’ red bottoms during ovulation which is a sign that they are ready to
mate with the males among other interesting features. After the rewarding experience,
you will then return to your hotel to freshen up, have lunch and then after check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali City or Kigali International Airport.
