Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Rushaga sector
After an early breakfast, you will carry packed lunch boxes and meet up with your driver guide to transfer you to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest trail head in search of the mountain gorillas, which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are found. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, different birds, plants, and many others. Once the mountain gorillas are found, you’ll spend an hour observing their behaviors and daily activities, and capturing photos and videos.
After the one-hour encounter with the gentle ape, you will meet up with your driver guide to drive you to the Rushaga sector in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Ichumbi Lodge (midrange) or Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge (budget).

Day 3: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park
On this day, you will wake up early, have a heavy breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will join a team of researchers, scientists, park guides, and many others and start trekking. The gorilla habituation experience is a full-day activity and during trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species and primates among many.
Once the habituated gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an opportunity to learn about their habits and behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, play, engage in the naming process, and take photos, among others.
After face-to-face interaction with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will meet your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight stay as above.
Note: The Gorilla Habituation Experience is a full-day gorilla experience where visitors are allowed 4 hours to spend with them. These habituated mountain gorillas first undergo the process of 3 to 4 years training and when the park rangers notice that these species can no longer fear people. They open the sector for tourism.
