Our 4 Days Uganda Mount Sabinyo & Mount Muhabura Trip is designed for travelers who love hiking adventures, leading you to Mount Sabinyo and Mount Muhambura of Uganda. Mount Sabinyo is known for its unique ‘old Man’s Teeth’ which appear due to its jagged summit, which acts as the meeting point of the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Also known for being the oldest volcano in the Virunga Mountains and a habitat for great mountain gorillas.
Mount Muhambura is famously known for its striking conical shape and its role as a prominent landmark in the Virunga Mountains, acting as a guide in the region. The hike to Mount Muhabura is a bit challenging and rewarding, offering impressive views from the summit. This trip starts and ends in Kampala /Entebbe.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up in Kampala and transfer to Mgahinga National Park
Depending on your location in Kampala or Entebbe, our safari driver guide will pick you up, brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Mgahinga Gorilla national park the journey that lasts 8 to 9 hours’ drive, inclusive of a stop at the equator for impressive photography and another stop in Mbarara for a picnic lunch.
Upon arrival in the park, you will check into the lodge, relax, and enjoy the scenery as you prepare for the summit climb the next day, dinner and overnight stay at Lake Chahafi Safari Lodge—Mid-range, Traveler Best Camp—Budget Accommodation.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Day 2: Hike Mount Sabinyo – Full Day
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the lodge, carry your lunch boxes and be driven to the park headquarters for the briefing about the hiking rules and regulations.
After the briefing, you will be escorted by the park ranger guide through the hiking trails. The hike to the summit can take 8 hours, depending on the climatic condition and other factors on that particular day.
The summits raise an elevation of about 3,645 meters above sea level. As soon as you reach the peak of the mountain, expect to have a perfect view of a caldera and the neighboring volcanoes within the park, and spend some time. After, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge as above.

Day 3: Another Hiking Exploration—Mount Muhambura
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and start the challenging ascent to the summit, passing through rocky and steep terrain. Reaching the summit, enjoy gainful views of crater lakes, the Virunga volcanoes, a range of notable bird species, primates, and unique plant life—take a lunch break and begin to descend back to the trailhead, returning to your lodge for a refreshing, delicious dinner and an overnight stay as above.
Note: You need to be physically fit.
Essentials to carry: hiking boots, arain jacket, long-sleeved shirts, a hat, sunglasses, a flashlight, insect repellents
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Depart back to Kampala
On this last day, wake up and drive back to Kampala with a stop at the equator in Kayabwe to take memorable photography. Enjoy a picnic lunch. Proceed to Kampala or Entebbe, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the Airport for the departure.
End of the tour.
