Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali pick up and transfer to Goma –Virunga national park

Transfer to Virunga national park: Be ready for a hotel pick up early in the morning on day 1 of 6 days Ngila classic Package Congo safari (3 Gorilla treks and Nyiragongo Hike). You will be picked by our experienced safari driver in Rwanda who will briefly introduce to you the itinerary as you head to Goma to obtain your Congo Visa. Remember to apply for a Rwanda visa since your visa will expire the moment you step in Democratic Republic of Congo thus a new visa will be needed to enter Rwanda again. Proceed to obtain your gorilla trekking permits and be transferred finally to your lodge for lunch and a relaxed evening, dinner and night rest at Ngila lodge (Luxury).

Day 2: First Gorilla trek in Virunga national park

First Gorilla trek: Enjoy a heavy breakfast on day 2 of 6 Days Congo Tripple Gorilla Trekking & Nyiragongo Hike, wear your best gorilla trekking gear and be led to the briefing ground at Bukima police post. You will meet with rangers who will take you through briefing about Gorilla trekking and later on penetrate into the forest to search for these giants in their habitats. The trek lasts about 2-7 hours or even more and upon finding the gorillas, you will spend only 1 hour in presence of Gorillas taking photographs and closely viewing the gorillas as they cheerfully laugh, feed, breastfeed and groom each other among others. Later on after 1 hour, you will exit the forest and return to Bukima police post where you will then be picked up and returned to your lodge for dinner and night sleep as above at above at Ngila lodge.

Day 3: Second Gorilla trek in Virunga national park

Second Gorilla trek: Arise early in the morning on day 3 of 6 Days Congo Tripple Gorilla Trekking & Nyiragongo Hike, have breakfast served at your lodge and be ready for a transfer to Bukima once again for briefing before returning into the forest for the Second Gorilla trek. You will start with briefing just like previous day and later on embark on a walk to find the gorilla family. Once hour is the maximum duration you will spend with gorillas then exit back to lodge for a 3rd night at Ngila lodge where you will enjoy a Barbeque dinner as a way of appreciating your stay at Ngila lodge for 3 consecutive night.

Day 4: Third Gorilla trek in Virunga national park

Third Gorilla trek: After breakfast on day 4 of 6 days Ngila classic Package Congo safari (3 Gorilla treks and Nyiragongo Hike), check out of the lodge and returned to Bukima police post for a briefing before proceeding on a third gorilla trek. During briefing you are free to request for whichever gorilla family you need to trek to avoid trekked a similar family already trekked. After briefing, hire a porter if necessary and penetrate the forest to trek the third time. Spend only 1 hour with gorilla and exit the forest, and be transferred to Mikeno lodge. Later in the evening, you will head out for a visit to Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage. Dinner and overnight will be at Mikeno lodge.

Day 5: Mount Nyiragongo Hike (Ascend)

Mount Nyiragongo hike: Arise and shine on day 5 of 6 days Ngila classic Package Congo safari (3 Gorilla treks and Nyiragongo Hike), check out of your lodge with a packed lunch box and all equipment needed while at the top of Mount Nyiragongo then be transferred to Kibati ranger post where briefing before hiking Nyiragongo is conducted. After briefing, you will ascend Mount Nyiragongo the most active volcano in Virunga national park and within entire Virunga massif. The night will be spent at the summit watching the boiling lava lake.

Day 6: Descend Mount Nyiragongo & departures

Descend back to Kibati and transfer to Kigali: Get up at the summit of Nyiragongo on day 6 of 6 days Ngila classic Package Congo safari (3 Gorilla treks and Nyiragongo Hike), have a cup of tea for breakfast and meet other hiker to start descending back to Kibati the trail head of Nyiragongo. While at Kibati, you will be transferred by convoy back to Goma where you will pick your Rwanda visa and cross over to meet with your Rwanda driver/guide and proceed to Kigali the capital city of Rwanda. Depending on your flight time, you will enjoy city tour visiting some of the crucial sites in the city including Genocide memorial sites, market centers and many more then be dropped off at your finally drop-off location be it at the hotel or direct at the airport for departures.
