6 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates tour
The 6-day Uganda-Rwanda primates tour is an extraordinary safari that starts from Kigali, Rwanda and ends in Entebbe, Uganda. The safari will take you to the three primate destinations, including Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Kibale Forest National Park in Uganda.
During the safari, you will be able to engage in an adventurous gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking and golden monkey trekking experience.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Depending on your location on the first day of the safari, our driver guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel, brief you about the safari and then go for a short city tour in Kigali, where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial center, Kimironko market among others.
After the city tour, you will start the journey to Volcanoes national park which takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive and on the way, you will enjoy views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, farmlands among others. Upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast on the second day of the safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a golden monkey trekking briefing.
After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest with an experienced park guide in search of the golden monkeys, which takes about 2 to 4 hours depending on where the golden monkeys are located. Once they are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in the habitat, which allows you to learn about their habits and behaviors, watch them feed, play, jump up in tree branches, take photos and record videos.
After the encounter with the golden monkeys, you will start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southern part of Uganda. You will have lunch en route on the way and upon arrival, connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience
On the third day, you will have an early breakfast, carry your lunch box and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking.
After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 people and start trekking in the jungle with a park guide and park rangers in search of the mountain gorillas, which takes about 2 to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night.
During trekking, you will be able to view other primates and forest birds among others and once the gorillas are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them, which gives you an opportunity to watch them feed, groom young ones, breastfeed, play, rest, take photos and record the breathtaking moments.
After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point, where you will be awarded a certificate for engaging in gorilla trekking and later meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
After breakfast on the fourth day, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park located in the western region. On the way you will have a stopover for an en-route lunch and then continue to Kibale forest national park and upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight as you prepare for your chimpanzee trekking experience.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking experience and Bigodi swamp walk
After an early breakfast on the fifth day of the safari, your drive guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to Kanyachu visitor’s center for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the chimpanzees, which takes about 2 to 5 hours.
During trekking, you will be able to view other primates like grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys, and view different bird species, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their environment, which helps you to learn more about their behaviors, take photos, and watch them feed, breastfeed, play, and hunt, among other things.

After the encounter with the chimpanzees, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch, whereafter you will go for an exciting Bigodi swamp walk, where you will be able to spot different bird species, primates, and plant and tree species; visit homesteads in the community; and interact with the local people, among others. Later drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe
On the last day of the safari, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kampala/Entebbe. You will have a stopover for an en-route lunch on the way and upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advice.
