Buhoma Community Haven Lodge is an excellent Mid-range safari lodge that provides a comfortable stay to visitors who visits the park for more than one day on gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

In general, Bwindi Impenetrable National park is a popular top safari destination to see mountain gorillas because the park hosts half the remaining mountain gorillas in the world and the world remains with a total of about 1065 individuals. More so, the park is home to over 22 habituated gorilla families which are divided into four gorilla sectors ‘’where gorilla trekking in Bwindi is done ’’ Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija, and Rushaga. And we advise our visitors on a visit here to request an agent in charge of their gorilla tour package to book for them lodges in the same region to trek gorillas meaning, trekking in Buhoma at the same time book a lodge in Buhoma region not ‘’ trekking gorillas in Ruhija and sleep in Nkuringo region that looks a zig-zagging itinerary.

Buhoma Community Haven Lodge consists of 8 spaciously designed double–twin cottages and 1 family cottage, all self-contained ‘’en-suite’’ and merging simple elegance with local materials. The lodge offers the most spectacular views of the rainforest from its terraces.

Interestingly, the lodge is located close to the briefing point where the gorilla trekking expedition begins from.

The lodge offers a nice and clean restaurant that serves 4-course meals blending western and African cuisine which is prepared by professional chefs using locally grown products.

Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking is quite the ultimate life experience and in Bwindi is the most done activity which starts early in the morning and starts with a briefing about the rules and registration of gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking can take 30 to 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla’s family you’re assigned to. The activity involves in park ranger who guides you while searching for them and once you locate them one hour is allowed to you to spend with them and learn how they survive, feed, hunt, play as well as enjoy picture taking.

Community walk

This activity is quite rewarding and interesting where visitors here can go visit the rural traditional way of Africa where you will learn more about our traditions, meet school children, people use traditional medicine to cure different diseases, and learn about cash crops like tea and coffee, meet women and men curving and weaving among others.

Visit the pygmy people

The visit to these pygmy people will never regret in life. Visiting the people, you will get interested in their way of life on how they used to live with mountain gorillas in peace, enjoy their traditional dance, learn how they prepare their traditional food, and also have a taste of their food.
