Bunyonyi Overland Resort
Bunyonyi Overland Resort is a wonderful resort to stay in while in western Uganda. Bunyonyi Overland Resort is tranquil, with great scenic views of Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest lake in Uganda. The Resort is also a great place to stop-over, start from or even end one’s gorilla safari in Uganda given that the area rewards its guests with maximum tranquillity and serenity.
The Resort provides accommodation to all kinds of travellers, in various budget options. The Resort has comfortable safari tents, rooms, cottages and family cottages which are self-contained and well furnished. The Resort also has a self-camping option for those travellers that may be interested in it and have their own camping gear.
Accommodation at Bunyonyi Overland Resort
Furnished Safari Tents
The Resort has 10 furnished safari tents that are mounted on raised platforms, each with its own terrace and stunning views of Lake Bunyonyi. Each of the tents is furnished with twin beds, electric lighting, 2 chairs, a writing table and a hammock. The toilets and bathrooms are however shared.
Cottages
There are 12 cottages in Bunyonyi Overland Resort, found in two terraced blocks with great views. Each of the cottages offer twin beds and double occupancy, are self-contained with electric lighting and power points, with each room having a small private terrace from where one may have some alone time.
Family cottages
Bunyonyi Overland Resort has 2 family cottages fully furnished and self-contained. Each of the family cottages has a satellite TV, a lounge, two bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with utensils, a small terrace and lawn perfect for picnics or barbeques.
Rooms
There are four rooms which are in one terraced block, are not self-contained but have electric lighting and power points also available in the Resort.
Rent a mobile tent
The Resort caters for all travellers’ budgets. With the Rent a mobile tent, the Resort caters for those travellers on a budget basis but without the burden of carrying their own camping gear. All that travellers need to do is book and then the resort shall have a tent pitched for you, as well as furnish it.
Self-camping
Travellers with their own camping gear can utilise the available gardens and camping area at the Resort. The areas are safe, serene and self-camping is one cheap way to stay while at the lodge.
The Resort is situated along Lake Bunyonyi with amazing and uninterrupted views. While at the Resort, one can enjoy a number of activities including;
- Swimming in Lake Bunyonyi, which is bilharzia free and has no crocodiles or hippos
- Boat tour of Lake Bunyonyi
- Bird watching, given that the area has a record of over 200 bird species

How to get to Bunyonyi Overland Resort
Located in Kabale district, Bunyonyi Overland Resort is about 410km from Kampala, only about 6 hours of road drive. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is 2 hours and 11 minutes from Bunyonyi Overland Resort, while Queen Elizabeth National Park is about 3 hours from the Resort. The Resort can also be accessed from Kigali Rwanda, only about 4 hours on road drive through Cyanika or Katuna border.
