Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Weather : Bwindi has a tropical climate category with wet and yet mild. It has a temperature that remains consistent yearlong due to its short distance from the equator. During day time the area experiences temperature of around 23degrees usual, with a significant drop at night to round 11 degrees Celsius.

Bwindi Impenetrable national park   usually receives rain throughout the year. The months of June and July receives least amount of rain. Then March to May and October to November the amount of rainfall is heavy thus making hiking trails slippery and waterproof clothing and hiking shoes essential.

The park experiences both dry and wet seasons, the dry season occurs in June, July and August –June and July are the driest months but still with little rain. By August the rain begins to increase.

The average temperature ranges   between 23 degrees in the afternoon to 11 degrees in the morning. Sometimes it goes higher ‘’altitude.

The month of December, January and February experiences a short drier spell but rain can fall at any time. By December the rain fall is little and increases in February. Daytime temperature average ranges around 24 degrees Celsius   with morning temperatures of about 11 degrees Celsius.

Wet seasons

In March, April and May – the rainfall increases and usually peaks in April. Road transport becomes difficult to access Bwindi and visiting the park during this period of the year we recommend you use 4 x4 wheel drive -essential.

The tracking trails become slippery and more difficult to hike in search for mountain gorillas or nature walk.

The daytime temperature average during this rainfall months of March, April and May ranges around 23 degrees Celsius with morning temperatures around 12 degrees Celsius.

September, October and November – During this time of the year the area can be wetter, Yet the months of October and November experienced high rainfall. Although it may drizzle continuously for several days. Daytime temperature experiences around 23degres Celsius. Forest tracking trails becomes slippery thus leading to disappointments of encountering mountain gorillas.

But travelers can still visit the park during this wetter seasons and do gorilla trekking at discounts, also accommodation rates lowers. But best time to see variety of migratory birds.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park is famously known as a great location to encounter the great mountain gorillas and above all, Bwindi ranks the highest population of endangered mountain gorillas with over 600 individuals out of the current total population of 1064.Thus making Bwindi the top and most visited destination in the whole world on Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari –Africa-Uganda. The park boosts with about 20 habituated mountain gorillas, stipulated in four gorilla trekking sectors including; Nkuringo, Ruhija, Rushaga and Buhoma sectors.

This national park is one of richest eco systems in Africa with a vast diversity of species including 120 species ,10 primates such as   chimpanzee, L’hoest’s, black and white monkeys, baboons, red tailed and blue monkeys as well as the famous mountain gorillas which can be trekked on 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari /Bwindi Gorilla Uganda Safari. Bwindi is not only home for primates but also paradise of birds with over 350 bird species such as Handsome spur fowl, Black bee-eater, Kivu ground thrush, Cinnamon chested bee-eater, Blue-headed sunbird, Abyssinian ground-thrush among others, number of beautiful butterflies ,51 reptiles and many endangered species. However, the park comprises of 327 square kilometers of the lowland which can be accessed on foot. Bwindi is one of the most diverse forest in East Africa with more than 1,000 flowering plants species and over 104 species of ferns.

The park is located in southwestern direction of Uganda and can be reached by both road and air transport .From Kampala by road can be accessed within 9 to 10 hours while using Mbarara route and though its long traveling journey but quite rewarding with interesting countryside ,rolling hills ,banana plantation ,green tea plantation as well as a stopover at the quarter be able to experience the water experiment .Alternatively ,you can visit the park by flight through booking a domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airport  and flies you to Kihihi airstrip and be picked up by safari guide from the strip and drives to the park.

Bwindi being  a great location for gorilla trekking ;However ,gorilla trekking is one of the most remarkable experience ,you shouldn’t miss to add on your bucket tour package on Uganda safari tours .Gorilla trekking starts early in the morning with the briefing and after head out with park rangers in search for gorillas in their tracking trails depending on assigned group of gorillas .Trekking might take 30 to 7 hours depending on where  were last seen the previous day and rangers known best the location .But we advise you to always carry enough bottled mineral water ,rain jacket ,put on comfortable hiking shoes  and always pay attention to the instruction of the guide. Once the gorilla group you’re trekking is located your given an hour to watch these endangered mountain gorillas as play around, build their nest on trees and other on the ground. Bwindi impenetrable national park can be visited throughout the year but the best season to enjoy it without interruption starts from the month of June to September and December to February during this period, there is less rainfall.
