Ichumbi gorilla lodge is situated in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable national park in the Rushaga region which currently has the biggest concentration of Mountain gorillas anywhere in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge is 5 minutes drive and 10 minutes to the gorilla trekking point of Bwindi Forest.
Getting there;
Rushaga region in the southern part of Bwindi can be accessed by road or by air;
By road
From Kampala or Entebbe is the main entry point to Uganda and those heading to Ichumbi to access the main safari destination which takes a 9 – 10 hours’ drive via Masaka -Mbarara – Ntungamo- Kabale road or those on our regular tours access the area from Queen Elizabeth National Park estimates 5 -6 hours’ drive.
By Air
Alternatively, you can use a scheduled or charter flight from Entebbe to Kisoro Airstrip, a 3-hour drive to Ichumbi gorilla lodge, by a 4×4 safari vehicle.
From Rwanda
Tourists can decide to use one of the border points of Katuna or Cyanika that leads to Ichumbi gorilla lodge and a drive time of 4 to 5 hours; however, this is the most recommended route to use.
