Queen Elizabeth National Park consists of open savannah, dense papyrus swamps, crater lakes, the impressive Maramagombo Forest and the forested Kyambura Gorge. The park is also home to over 100 mammal species and over 600 bird species among others.

Katara lodge is a beautiful base from which you can explore the park and the many activities it offers, like game drives, birding, the famous launch cruise along the impressive Kazinga channel, chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge as well as forest walks in the Kalinzu or Maramagambo forests. Birds to see around include; barbets, fire finches, fly catchers, long tailed mouse birds and different types of cuckoo that are benefiting from the presence of scrub-robins and robin chats.

Other birds which can be seen occasionally include; heron, storks, buzzards, ibises, kingfishers, owls many more.

Scenery watching;

Since the lodge’s location overlooks the park, it offers incredible views to the visitors.

The swimming pool is lovely with stunning views with clean towel provided.
