Mountain gorillas are our cousins whom we share close DNA ‘’98%’’.

They move in groups lead by an adult silverback who fight to protect a group of females.

Female mountain gorilla has strong long term relationships with males but not with females.

There are only 1064 individuals left in the wild that are classified by the IUCN as an endangered species.

Gorillas are one of our closest living relatives after chimpanzee and bonobos. They share 98% of DNA to humans.

There feeding, they use their knuckles to carry the weight of their head so amazing.

Gorillas are special because they are the largest of the primate species and rank amongst the most recognized and the most endangered species in the world.

Their hands have opposable thumbs which they can use to walk upright on two legs.

Furthermore, mountain gorillas are the substance of the Eastern gorillas.

Mountain gorillas live in the mountainous altitude of 2500 to 4,000 meters. Note at night the temperature become cold and even if during day can be cool.  These species have decided to develop unique adaptations to help themselves survive in their inhabitant. Well, these adaptation features are the major facts what makes mountain gorilla unique from other gorilla species.

They also have black fur while the eastern lowland gorillas have brownish fur. Meaning, they cannot survive in captivity. More then, mountain gorilla has broader chest and longer faces compared to other gorilla’s species.

If you are to trek mountain gorillas in Uganda can be trekked in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Rwanda in Volcanoes National Park and Democratic Republic of Congo in Virunga National Park and Kahuzi Biega National park.

Travelers to be able to see these mountain gorillas in their nature in habitat must have a valid gorilla trekking permits and each country has its own charges basing on the government authorities in those destinations where mountain gorillas can be seen. Gorilla trekking permits in Uganda costs USD700 per person per trek for foreign nonresident and USD600 for foreign resident, Rwanda’s permits cost USD1,500 per person per day and Congo’s permits are cheaper at fee USD400 per person per day.
