Our 3 Days Birding Trip to Semuliki National Park, Uganda offers perfect opportunities to spot more than 400 bird species recorded in diverse habitats, including lowland forests and savannas. This trip is typically crafted with a drive from Kampala on Day one, followed by a night game drive for nocturnal species. Typical activities to participate in during this trip include chimpanzee trekking and another game drive, focusing on the park’s rich forest bird life. It also involves a boat cruise on Lake Abert to encounter more aquatic bird species before the return journey to Kampala.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Semuliki NP -Night Game Drive
The trip commences from Kampala to Semuliki National Park, a journey that takes 6 to 7 hours, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful landscape. On arrival, check into your accommodation and have lunch.
In the evening, head on a night game drive to find nocturnal birds and other animals such as the white-tailed mongoose, slender mongoose, and on a lucky day, see leopards.
Day 2: Forest Exploration and Wildlife
Have breakfast, and then head into the rainforest for chimpanzee tracking and birding. The forest is known for its abundance of birds, including forest dwellers and species such as the Great Blue Turaco and various Hornbills.
In the afternoon, head out on a game drive to spot other wildlife and notable bird species. Visit the famous Sempaya Hot Springs. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Albert Cruise and Departure
On your last day, take a boat cruise on Lake Albert to witness a different set of bird species, especially the shoebill stork, which is a highlight of the region.
After the cruise, start your drive back to Kampala, concluding your birding adventure.
