The 4 Days Uganda Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari is a well-organized luxurious safari trip leading you to the world’s home with the highest population of endangered mountain gorillas which is splintered in four gorilla sectors where ‘’Gorilla trekking experience takes place’’ renowned as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is a trip combined with a safari home of kingdom primates especially the Chimpanzees in entire Africa known as Kibale Forest National Park.
The trip starts with flying from Entebbe International Airport landing at Kihihi airstrip a nearby airstrip that caters to the luxury clients who visit the great mountain gorillas in Bwindi and then transfer to Kibale on the road and it ends with a road drive back to Kampala.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Bwindi impenetrable national park (Kihihi airstrip)
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport on the first day of your 4 Days Uganda Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari, you will connect for your domestic flight to Kihihi airstrip. There are more scheduled flights to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which depart from Entebbe airport at 7:00 am, 10:15 am, and 1:00 pm and arrive at Kihihi airstrip at 08:45 am, 11:55 am, and 3:30 pm respectively. Upon arrival at Kihihi airstrip, you will be picked up by our expert driver guide and then transferred by road to your reserved accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will either spend the rest of the day at leisure or go for an optional Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, and way of living, enjoy their traditional entertainment through music, dance and drama from Batwa women, listen to ancient stories many more. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Buhoma lodge-luxury or Nkuringo Gorilla Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 4 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will carry a packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to drive you to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the jungle which takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on their movements. During trekking, you will enjoy spectacular views of other primates, animals, plants, bird species many more. Once the gorillas are allocated you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you a chance to learn more about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, enjoy everlasting photography and record the moments to show people back home.
After the exciting moment with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to go for an optional cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people, learn about their amazing culture, way of living, enjoy their traditional performances many more. After the cultural tour, you will return back to the lodge for an evening relaxation. Have dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
On the third day of the 4 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale National Park home capital to primates especially the chimpanzees and other small primates as well as various notable birds. On the way you will have an en-route lunch and enjoy spectacular views of the terraced farmlands, Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads, crater lakes, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Chimpundu lodge-luxury
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Transfer to Kampala
After an early breakfast on the last day of the 4 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to drive you to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located. Once the chimpanzees have been found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle, and behaviors, watch them feed, play in trees, take photographs and record videos with a flash-less camera.
After the one-hour experience with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the meeting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch along the way. After lunch, you will proceed the journey to Kampala. Arriving early evening. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advice.
