5 Days Kidepo national park safari : Kidepo national  park is one of the largest national parks in Uganda located in the north eastern region of Uganda, kidepo national park is one of the great tourist destination in Uganda where you get to enjoy the best game drive experience. The park is covered with rugged scenic terrain made up of rivers hills and rivers such as river Narus and kidepo, kidepo national park has a mixture of attractions and experience from animals, rivers, hot spring to the unique Ik people.

The park is a home to a wide range of animals like lions, zebras, elephants, herds of buffalo and many more which can be enjoyed on a 5 days safari to kidepo.

Detailed itinerary for the safari

Day 1- transfer to kidepo national park

Your safari driver will pick you up as early as 6: 300 am or 7:00 am from your preferred residence either in Entebbe or Kampala then embark on a 434 kilometer drive to Kitgum. A drive from Kampala to Kitgum is approximately 6-7 hours, on your way you will make a stopover for lunch and you can make another stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking before continuing to Kitgum which is optional. You will spend the night in Kitgum, check in to your lodges, have dinner and sleep.

Day 2-evening game drive

You will wake up early for morning breakfast then drive a journey of approximately 145 kilometers to kidepo national park, since the drive take 2-4 hours you will be in the park like at mid-day have lunch as you prepare for an afternoon game drive. On the afternoon game drive you will encounter a number of amazing wildlife such as giraffe, leopard, spotted hyena and many more while enjoying the beautify scenic landscape and also seeing many bird species. After the game drive you will drive back to your lodges, have dinner and sleep.

Day 3-morning game drive and community visit

You will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and by 7:00 am you will be in the park starting your morning game drive, early morning game drive gives you an opportunity to more animal species you didn’t see on the afternoon game drive as the animals are spotted leaving their nests and grazing. Animals like herds of Cape Buffaloes, African elephants, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Klipspringer, Jackals and Lions are spotted. After the game drive you will relax as you have lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a community visit to Karamojong pastoralists’ community, on this visit you enjoy the authentic culture of the Karamojong through interacting with locals, their songs and dances and many more. Then go back to your lodges, have dinner and sleep. 

Day 4- visiting Ik people

You will wake in the morning for breakfast the drive to the foot hills of mountain Morungole for a visit to the Ik people, the Ik people live on the high altitude of mountain Morungole which can only be reaching by hiking. Hiking mountain Morungole standing at the altitude of 2,479 meters above the sea level is not an easy task as it requires you to be physically feet but it is very rewarding. When you reach in the Ik community you will learn more about their authentic unique culture, enjoy their cultural songs and dances and many more. The visit to the Ik people takes a full day meaning you will go with your packed lunch  and after hiking you will go back to  your lodges, have dinner and sleep.

Day 5- drive back to Kampala

You will wake up early in the morning for breakfast, then check out of your hotel them embark on your journey back to Kampala where you will be dropped off marking the end of the safari.
