6 Days Best of Primates Safari
The 6 days best of primates safari is an exceptional safari that starts from Entebbe Uganda and ends in Kigali Rwanda. The safari will take you to the primate destinations in Uganda including Kibale forest national park also known as the primate capital where you will be able to engage in chimpanzee trekking experience and spend time with the chimpanzee.
The safari will also take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will be able to visit the endangered mountain gorillas during gorilla trekking and also visit the local people in the community.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park
Depending on your location on the first day of the safari, our driver guide will either pick you up from Entebbe airport or your hotel in Entebbe, brief you about the safari and later start the journey to Kibale forest national park. You will enjoy great views on the way with a stopover for en-route lunch and upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk
On the second day of the safari, you will have an early breakfast at the lodge and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu visitor’s center for chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees which takes about 2 to 5 hours depending on where the chimpanzees slept the previous night. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates like the grey cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, red vervet monkeys, view different birds among other.
Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their habitat which gives you a chance to learn about their behaviors, watch them feed, play, rest, take photos and record videos.
After the encounter with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will go for a guided Bigodi swamp walk where you will be able to spot different bird species, primates, plant and tree species, visit the surrounding communities among others. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After a relaxed breakfast on the third day of the safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way, you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the Kigezi hills, tea and banana plantations, crater lakes among others. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Guided nature walk and Batwa cultural tour
After breakfast on the fourth day of the safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a guided nature walk in the park where you will follow different trails in the forest, enjoy views of different primates, animals, bird species among others. After the nature walk, you will return to the lodge for lunch where after you will go for an exciting Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people who used to live in the forest, learn about their culture, way of living, listen to their ancient stories, enjoy their traditional songs and dances among others. After the cultural tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking experience
On the fifth day of the safari, you will have an early breakfast, carry your packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking. After the briefing, you will be subdivided into groups of 8 people, where each group will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and an experienced park guide.
Trekking of gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes about 2 to 7 hours depending on their location because they like to move from one location to another in search of food. Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the environment which gives you an opportunity to watch them feed, breastfeed, groom young ones, learn more about their habits and behaviors, take photos and record the breathtaking moments. After the one hour with the gorillas, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Departure to Kigali
After breakfast on the last day of the safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kigali Rwanda. On the way you will have en-route and proceed to Kigali arriving early evening and upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali International airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice depending on your schedule.
