Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale forest national park

Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale forest national park: On day 1 of 6 Days Uganda Primates Safari, you will start your 6 days Uganda safari with either a hotel pick up or airport pickup by our company representative and set off on a drive to Kibale forest national park a home to the largest population of primate species in Uganda. Kibale forest national park harbor’s over 13 species of primates including Chimpanzees, Olive baboon, Vervet monkeys, Blue monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, Bush babies and many more. Upon arrival, you will check in your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi nature walk

Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Nature walk: Enjoy an early breakfast on day 2 of 6 days Uganda Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking safari tour then pack some drinking water, snacks and many other equipment’s necessary for chimpanzee trekking and meet your safari driver for a transfer to Kanyanchu visitor’s center where you will join other trekkers for a briefing. After briefing, the rangers will lead you deep into the forest to search for the troop of chimpanzees that has been habituated and ready for trekking. The trek lasts about 2-5 hours after which you have only 1 hour in presence of chimpanzees taking photographs and closely interacting with chimpanzees. Exit the forest back to your lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will head to Bigodi for a guided nature walk in the habitat of primates, birds and botanical plant species. During the nature walk, you will be able to encounter with different primate species, bird species like shoebill stork, Great blue turaco and be able to identify plenty of plant species.

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale

Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park and afternoon boat cruise

Drive to Queen and boat cruise: Enjoy your breakfast in time on day 3 of 6 Days Uganda Primates Safari, check out and be driven from Kibale forest national park to Queen Elizabeth national park. Upon arrival, proceed to check in your lodge for lunch then embark on an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel with a chance of spotting a huge school of Hippos, crocodiles and many other wildlife that visit the water body to quench their thirst. After boat cruise drive to your lodge for dinner and have an overnight sleep.

Day 4: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Morning game drive and drive to Bwindi: After breakfast on day 4 of 6 days Uganda Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking safari tour, meet your driver for a thrilling early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains where you will drive amidst several wildlife species. After game drive, return to your lodge, check out of the lodge with a packed lunch box and be ready for a drive from Queen Elizabeth national park to Bwindi impenetrable national park via Ishasha sector where you will be able to spot tree climbing lions on a luck day. Enjoy a picnic lunch and proceed with your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 5: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi: Have an early morning breakfast on day 5 of 6 days Uganda safari tour then meet your safari driver for a transfer to the park headquarters to start your gorilla trekking day with a briefing. During briefing, you will learn about the dos and don’ts while in the habitats of Gorillas. After briefing, your rangers will take you via different trails in the impenetrable forest as you search for the habituated gorilla family. The trek lasts from about 30 minutes to over 8 hours depending on the gorilla family, the movement of gorillas, and the speed of trekkers among others. Once you find gorillas, spend one hour in their habitat taking photographs and closely viewing gorillas and later on exit the forest back to your lodge for dinner and overnight sleep. You may enjoy an evening Batwa experience as an optional activity if time allows and you are really in for another activity after trekking gorillas.

Day 6: Transfer back to Kampala

Transfer back to Kampala: Enjoy your morning breakfast in time on day 6 of 6 days Uganda Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking safari tour then check out and meet your safari driver for a drive from Bwindi impenetrable national park back to Kampala the capital city of Uganda. Being a long journey drive, you will stopover in Mbarara city for an enroute lunch and have another stop at the Equator for photo taking session where you will stand between Northern and Southern poles of the Equator. Expect to arrive in Kampala late in the evening for a drop off either at the hotel or direct at the airport.
