Boni National Reserve : Boni National Reserve Kenya is located in the northern Eastern region of Kenya in the Garissa community. It covers an area of about 1339 square kilometers with its nearest districts being Lamu in Kenya and Ijara in Somalia.  More so, the reserve was established in 1976 as a season sanctuary for elephants from Ijara and Lamu districts. The reserve inhabits various tree species seldom found in alternative forests and the commonly tree species discovered here includes Homalium abdessamadii, Croton megalocarpoides, Croton polytrichus, Excoecaria busses and cycad hildebrandtii.

This reserve offers a combination of warm and arid seasons motivated through the North and warm and humid located from the south. Birding Tour

Birding tour is best done in Boni forest a habitat of residents and migratory bird species. More so the reserve has five threatened plant species which are identified as Dalbergia vacciniifolia, Canthium kilifiense canthium pseudoverticillatum, Mkilua fragrans, synsepalum subverticillatum. There are couple of threated animal species such as African elephants ‘’Loxodonta Africana’’ and the elephant shrew ‘’Rhynchocyon’’.

Some of bird species to see includes; Lesser Crested tern, Greater Crested tern, Lesser frigatebird, wandering whistling duck, striated heron, Pacific reef egret among others.
