How do I get a gorilla permit in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo?
Gorilla permits in Uganda are obtained from the Uganda Wildlife Authority ‘’UWA’’ offices in Kampala. The Uganda Wildlife Authority issues over 160 gorilla permits per day. If you decide to book the permit by yourself, contact Uganda Wildlife Authority by email requesting a reservation with information about your dates of travel. But the best convenient way is to use a reliable tour operator and most tour operators include a gorilla permit as part of the overall cost of a gorilla safari. We recommend visitors book their gorilla permits at least six months ahead of travel to ensure availability.
Rwanda gorilla permits can be bought at Rwanda Development Board ‘’RDB’’.

Can You Cancel a Permit?
If you have only paid a deposit, you will not receive any refund on cancellation.
If you have made 100% payments, the following cancellation rules apply;
75% refund if you cancel your permits for 91 days or more. Done before your trek
50% refund if you cancel 46 to 90 days before
25% refund if you cancel nine to 45 days before
No refund if you cancel zero to 8 days before.
If you cannot trek due to illness,50% of the permit fee may be refunded. This is to encourage people to be kinder about feeling unwell and prevent the gorillas from becoming sick
