Kiho Gorilla Safari Lodge is a luxurious and comfortable safari lodge located in Muhanga in the heart of Ruhija sector in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park one of the four gorilla sectors in the park. The lodge overlooks the dense impenetrable forest offering a beautiful escape with breathtaking southerly views over forested ridges all the way to the distant Virunga Volcanoes.
The lodge is comprised of 10 luxury suites secluded and surrounded by wonderfully untamed vegetation that offers you the illusion of staying deep in the African jungle. Rooms are contemporary designed with local Bakiga craftsmanship that brings out a Unique sophisticated yet rustic ambience.

Type of Suites; Suites are differentiated by names;
Colobus Suite; This suite was named after the black and white colobus monkeys that like hanging out near the suite.
Facts about colobus monkeys; They have a black colour with a white stripe on side of their bodies, limbs, face and tail.
Black and white colobus monkeys live in group of 5 to 15 members led by a male
They are herbivore primate with a gestation period of 4 to 6 months.
Take note, while at the suite do not try to feed the monkeys when they hang around your room. Just know the suite offers a forest view, a private balcony fitted with two sun loungers and hardwood table.
What an interesting morning, you waking up into sweet sound of birds and monkeys.
Handsome Francolin Suite;
The name Handsome francolin was inspired due to its sweet name to name it as suite. The handsome francolin is a ground dwelling partridge occurring in montane forest and the high-altitude bamboo zone within a restricted area along the Albertine rift. In Ruhija sectors can be seen in pairs.
The handsome francolin suites feature with an indoor lounge area, a foyer-cum-mudroom and handcrafted furniture that makes visitor’s stay comfort.
Kaganga Suite;
This suite got its name from Kaganga suite which means ‘’the giant one’’ from a silverback in the Uruzogo family of Ruhija. Well, it’s a giant suite with an oversize double bed and cozy fireplace to warm you up on chilly nights.
The room features with a walk-in closet and dressing rooms.
The window drapes and curtains are made out of beautiful African design fabric popularly known as kitenge.
Rukara Suite
Rukara is an immigrant silverback from the Bitukura family group conquered with the Kyaguliro family and took over leadership after the death of the dominant silverback ‘’Rukina’’. What an interesting overnight stay in the Rukara suite, then tracking the Kyaguliro family in the morning thus giving a chance of looking into Rukara’s deep black eyes.
The suite features with an outdoor forest shower supported by a wooden deck in full view of the forest -sheltered by elephant grass.
Rukumu Two Beds
This suite is fitted with two standard beds and were named after the 3rd silverback of the Bitukura gorilla family, resident in Ruhija.
The rooms were designed with indoor fireplace where you can sit and cover yourself with a snuggly blanket as you wait for your next day gorilla trek.
Jackson Chameleon Suite;
This suite was named after endangered Jackson’s chameleons endemic to the Albertine rift.
Facts, they live at an altitude ranging from 1,700 meters and upwards above sea level.
Jackson chameleon lay eggs and it gives birth to live offspring. Booking this suite, you have high chances to spot a three-horned chameleon as you sip from the comfort of your private balcony.
Mukiza Suite
This suite is comfortable for triple occupancy since it is décor with one king size and one standard bed. Its location offers perfect birdwatching as many Albertine rift endemics can be seen around.
Njojo Honeymoon Suite;
Njojo means elephant and it was named njojo because of the elephants which regularly visit the surroundings of this suite, especially during the wet season. It is perfect for honeymooners.
This suite -room suits with bathtub, indoor overhead shower and forest bath.
Bitukura Cottage Suite; – 2 Bedrooms
The name is inspired from the first gorilla family in the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bitukura gorilla family was first sighted on 2007 near river called Bitukura. Imagine, sleeping in such suite where you can enjoy quiet in a world that never stope moving.
Kyaguliro Cottage Suite – One Bedrooms
This suite is named Kyaguliro -a name which is inspired by the Kyaguliro gorilla group consisting of 21 members including 8 adults and its family is under the leadership of a silverback called Rukina and after his death – another silverback from Bitukura family stepped into his feet.
The room features with a separate bedroom, kitchen, satellite TV and Sofa beds. Best recommended for families with younger children.
