Facts About Lions;

A full grown male lion weighs between 150-250kgs and a female lion usually weighs between 120-182 kilometers.

Male lions usually need about 7kilograms of meat per day while the females do need only about 5kilograms.

A lioness usually gives birth at the age of 4 and Lion cubs are reared together.

Lions are big eaters

Male lions develop manes after about 1 year and a half after birth.

Lionesses – the female lions, do the hunting while the males are the protectors.

Hunting is done in packs.

Best places to see lions in Uganda

Kidepo Valley National Park

Kidepo Valley National Park is a remotest savannah area located in far northern Uganda region but stands as the best place to see lions on African safaris. In the park lions are best spotted around rocks randomly found in the park.  The park has the highest growing lion population, mostly attributed to the lion research and conservations projects that take place in the park. Prides of lions are not only tourist attractions to see in Kidepo Valley National Park. Murchison Falls National Park is thrilling savannah land comprised with Borassus palm trees giving a backdrop to the park’s wildlife including lions. During game drive is the best way to spot a pride of lions in Murchison Falls National Park. Lions in Murchison Falls are named as diurnal, which means that they are active at two primary times of the day, the morning and evening when the sun is setting.  Fact is that, you can spot all the big five mammals in Murchison Falls National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park

Best spotting time here is usually in the morning and late afternoon hours. They can easily be spotted while on a lunch cruise on Kazinga channel or game drive in an open plain of Kasenyi.
