The 4 Days Bwindi Gorilla and Kibale Chimps Trek Safari is a perfect primate safari adventure, and can start either from Kigali – Rwanda thus marking both its beginning and ending. If you are flying out, you may also decide to start in Kampala or Entebbe and finish in Kampala.  From Kigali to Bwindi is 3 to 4 hours, making it a quick journey.

Bwindi Forest National Park and Kibale National Park stand as the world-class primate capital, harboring a huge population of mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

You will be collected up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and then begin a picturesque journey over the countryside to Kibale National Park. Kibale National Park is a popular home to a large number of primates, especially the wild chimpanzee. Have a picnic lunch in beautiful Fort Portal town. Arrive in late afternoon, if time allows, you may conduct in Bigodi Swamp Walk where various tropical birds and monkeys will be seen. Visiting the Bigodi wetland, you will discover the way of life of people living close to the park. Have primates and birding views. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Have an early breakfast, then after, be driven to the meeting point for chimp trekking rules. After the briefing, you will spend many hours following and watching wild chimpanzees on foot under the direction of your Knowledgeable local ranger guide. After spotting them, return and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arriving in the evening, check into the lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Encounter

You will have an early morning breakfast, carry your packed lunch boxes and then be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting out to the forest in search of a mountain gorilla family under local community guide. The trekking experience takes 2 to 6 hours, depending on their movement in the jungle. Once you find them, you will be given an hour to spend with them, learn about their behavior, habits, play, feed, watch them grooming themselves as well as capture videos. Hike back to the starting point to be rewarded with a gorilla certificate and then, meet your driver guide to return back to the lodge for relaxation as you get ready for a visit the Batwa community in the evening. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali – Rwanda

Have a delicious breakfast at leisure and get ready for the road transfer. Then, you will say farewell to Bwindi and be transferred to Kigali city via the Chanika border while driving through beautiful countryside, rolling hills with picnic lunch. Upon arrival, be dropped off at your booked hotel in Kigali city or at Kigali International Airport for your onward flight. End of Tour.
