Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park –Launch Cruise on Kazinga Channel
- Transfer to Queen Elizabeth: On this day 1 of your 6 Days Best of Primates safari, our company driver guide will pick you and after briefing you about your safari, you will proceed for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to over 1000 mammals, 600 different bird species and primates including chimpanzees. The drive can take approximately 6 hours from Kampala. En-route, you will stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for a polar water experiment and photography. You will arrive in the park just in time for lunch.
- Launch Cruise: After lunch, you will go for an afternoon launch cruise on Kazinga Channel, that links Lake Edward to Lake George. This launch cruise will reward you with various water animals say serried ranges of hippos, Nile crocodiles, birds and other mammals like buffaloes and elephants as they come for an afternoon drink on the shores. You will then get to your accommodation, after the launch cruise, where you will get to relax as you await your dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Game Drive-Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge
- Game Drive: On the 2nd day of your 6 Days Best of Uganda Primates, After an early cup of coffee or tea at the lodge, head out for a game drive in the Kasenyi track and Queens Mile. These trails reward you with abundant wildlife and given that the game drive is early in the morning, you will be able to encounter the early risers and the nocturnal returning, say the lions, hyenas, jackals, elephants, buffaloes, among so many others. After the game drive, return to the lodge and get to have a late breakfast.
- Chimpanzee Tracking: Spend the rest of the morning resting and after your lunch, you will transfer to Kyambura Gorge for a chimpanzee tracking experience. You will also get to see other primates while chimpanzee tracking say the red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, among so many others, including bird species, butterflies and plant life. After, return to the lodge, have dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
- Transfer to Bwindi: TOn the 3rd day of your 6 Days Best of Uganda Primates today, after your breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector. Watch out for the famous tree-climbing lions as they dangle on the treetops. You will also get to see other wildlife say elephants, antelopes and a number of primates en-route t Bwindi. The drive is approximately 4 hours. You will arrive in the park just in time for lunch. You can choose to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing or go for a community visit and get to engage with the locals and learn of their way of life. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
- Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi: Today, you take part in one of the most overwhelmingly beautiful activity that tourists take part in- gorilla trekking in Bwindi. After your breakfast at the lodge, you will carry your packed lunch and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking by the park officials. You will also be given rules and guidelines to follow while gorilla trekking in Bwindi, and then allocated a gorilla group to trek. Thereafter, you will set off by 8 am in search of the mountain gorillas, guided by rangers. The trek can take anything between 30 minutes to 6 hours or more, and only given one hour to spend with these gentle gorillas. You can take pictures, videos for your keeps when you do encounter the gorillas which you will find going through their daily life of feeding, grooming, napping, making nests or playing. After an hour is elapsed, you will leave the gorillas and trek back, with a lunch stopover somewhere in the jungle. Look out for other park animals like forest elephants while gorilla trekking.
- Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, Bigodi wetland visit
- Transfer to Kibale: This 5th day of your 6 Days Best of Primates safari has travellers transferring to Kibale National Park after having their breakfast at the lodge. Enjoy the countryside as you drive to the park. You will arrive in the park just in time for lunch, which you will have at the lodge.
- Bigodi wetland visit: After, go for a Bigodi wetland sanctuary visit, which will reward you with various bird species like the African pitta, the great blue turaco among others. Red-tailed monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, baboons among so many others are some of the primates you will encounter. After, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking and Departure
- Chimpanzee Tracking and Departure: On this last day of your 6 Days Best of Primates safari, you will get to go for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park after your breakfast at the lodge. The chimpanzees are loud and very active unlike gorillas so expect to move a lot to keep up with them as they jump from one tree branch to another. You will also get to see other primates like baboons, red-tailed monkeys among others. Kibale National Park is also famous for the birds that are abundant here, keep an eye out for them too. After, you will depart the park for a road drive to Entebbe, making a lunch stopover at a selected restaurant. You will reach the airport just in time to catch your outbound flight.
